Sensor taps (touchless taps) use an infrared sensor to detect hands and open a solenoid valve, then shut off automatically. The fixing of sensor taps is straightforward if you follow a clear sequence.
Start by turning off the hot and cold isolation valves under the sink. If the tap is mains-powered, isolate the power too. Check the tap hole size and ensure the basin surface is clean and dry.
Fit the tap body through the hole from above, making sure the sensor faces forward. From underneath, place the rubber gasket and washer (if supplied), then hand-tighten the fixing nut. Secure it firmly with a spanner, but don’t overtighten, especially on ceramic basins.
Connect the flexible hoses to the hot and cold supplies, tightening to a snug fit. If your model uses a control box/solenoid unit, connect the tap outlet hose into the control box as instructed, then connect the water inlets to the supplies. Mount the control box inside the cabinet where it stays dry and accessible.
Install the power source: insert batteries correctly, or connect the mains adapter safely away from moisture. Turn the water back on slowly and check every joint for leaks. Test activation by placing hands within range. If it triggers too easily or not at all, adjust sensor sensitivity (if available) and ensure the sensor window is clean.
