There’s a certain kind of calm that comes from sitting down with a pencil, an empty grid, and the promise of a puzzle waiting to be solved. For me, that puzzle has always been Sudoku. It’s funny because I don’t remember the exact moment I started playing — maybe it was in the back of a newspaper, or on one of those free puzzle apps I downloaded during a long commute — but over time, Sudoku has become a little ritual I return to whenever I need a break from the noise of daily life.
